A natural approach to getting rid of fleas saves your dog from chemical products and treatments’ side effects. This can be done in a few steps, but they must be done in tandem and repeated till you get rid of the outbreak completely. Some of the measures have to be followed continuously to prevent further attacks of the pests.

• Wash, spray, rub, or dip to keep them away
  • Sprays made of essential oils, or apple cider vinegar, lemon or organic soap, rubs of neem oil or coconut oil, and rosemary dip are some of the natural ways of getting rid of fleas.
  • Essential oil sprays, such as Citronella, Eucalyptus, peppermint and tea tree oil, are natural flea repellents that can safely be used on your dog. Dilute just about a few drops of the oil in water and spray directly on your dog’s coat to keep fleas away.
  • Apple cider vinegar acts by balancing the pH level, helping your dog maintain its health, and making it difficult for the pests. You can make a spray by diluting six cups of vinegar with four cups of water and a little sea salt. This spray can also be directly used on your dog’s coat.
  • Add half a cup of lemon juice to two cups of water and use it with the shampoo or soap to give a fresh-smelling bath that gets rid of the fleas. Using organic soaps instead of normal soaps also helps to get rid of fleas and leaves a pleasant odor.
  • A rosemary dip can be prepared by steeping rosemary leaves in boiling water, straining and mixing it with cool water, and using it bathe your dog.
  • Neem oil is a multi-purpose natural remedy. You can use it directly on your dog’s coat and give a massage or add it to a spray or shampoo, and it works well to get rid of the fleas. Coconut oil rub is also a great way to keep your dog’s coat healthy, shiny, and flea-free.
• Spray or sprinkle on surfaces
  A lemon spray on the furnishings and carpets will help to get rid of fleas naturally. Sprinkling salt, baking soda, or diatomaceous earth on the surface before vacuum cleaning helps dehydrate and kill the fleas and eggs.
• Use flea combs
  Flea combs are designed to remove fleas and their eggs from the skin of your dog. Use a flea comb to remove the fleas and then use other home remedies for better results. These combs do not contain any chemicals. You can use the comb dipped in a lemon solution and apply it to your dog’s hair to kill fleas and act as a repellent.
• Make a flea collar
  Using a flea collar or a homemade bandanna is a great way to keep away fleas naturally. If your dog is resisting sprays try applying a few drops of lavender oil or cedar oil on the collar.
